"That's just how I was raised"

I don't agree with the idea that we are who we are because of how our parents raised us as kids. I especially don't agree with the idea that someones life is a wreck because of the way they were raised. Sure, someone might like some music out of their normal range because it was always playing when they were young, but the values we hold as adults are the ones we choose to hold. And the choices we make are the choices we choose to make. Many people throughout the years touch our lives in so many different ways, and what we take from them is what we choose to take. We make our own choices, so why not take responsibility for them if they're bad choices in place of blaming our parents or blaming it on the "way we were raised".

Have you ever noticed?

It makes me sad that people are so distant with each other. Maybe it's just the area I live in, but it seems like there's this barrier between people. Going to a bar or club used to be that you were joining a room full of people. Now everyone in the room is in their little personal groups, and no one talks to anyone else. What's up with that?
